BRTC Mascot Reveal and Graduation

Stryker and Hadley Rose, SGA President

POCAHONTAS, AR  Aug. 19 – On August 11, 2020, Black River Technical College hosted its mascot reveal celebration followed by its spring and summer commencement exercises. The festivities began with the reveal of BRTC’s new Black Hawk logo followed by the introduction of the spirit character, Stryker. The outdoor video presentations were shown on the big screen of the local James Junction drive-in theater and a reveal parade followed.

Spring and summer commencement exercises were held in the Randolph County Development Center. Graduates were presented their diplomas on stage while their families watched in the safety of their own vehicles on the drive-in screen. During the ceremony, graduates, their families, and community members enjoyed free popcorn, corndogs, and water. A fireworks display concluded the event.

The mascot itself and the spirit character’s name were chosen by a committee made up of BRTC employees, students, and community members.  The Student Government Association led the charge to name an official mascot by requesting that the college begin the search and funding the project.
