BRTC’s Karen Liebhaber Presents at 2020 State Financial CPE Virtual Conference

Karen Liebhaber, BRTC’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement

POCAHONTAS, AR. Nov. 17–On Friday, October 23, 2020, Karen Liebhaber, BRTC’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement, presented at the 2020 State Financial CPE Virtual Conference.

The Arkansas Financial CPE Virtual Conference, put on by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, provides continuing education credits to financial employees of various state agencies.  Many are also leaders in the community and associations throughout the state.

Liebhaber discussed the science of emotional intelligence (EI) and how understanding EI can improve a person’s leadership.  “Essentially,” Liebhaber states, “the higher one’s EI, the better they are at identifying and controlling their own emotions and responding to others’.  Being able to emotionally adapt in a stressful situation can make the difference in whether a person is just a boss or a great leader.”

Because EI can help individuals get along better in the workplace whether they are leaders or not, conference organizers felt the topic would be of interest to the group.

Liebhaber’s presentation on EI stems from her doctoral dissertation on EI change in college presidents.  Visit https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/emotional-intelligence for more information about emotional intelligence.
