Commencement December 17

Approximately 283 students will graduate from Black River Technical College this fall.   December 17 commencement ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Randolph County Development Center.   Shiloh Meeks graduate candidate from Pocahontas will serve as the class spokesperson.  Meeks will graduate with an Associate of Science Degree in Business.

Mr. Kelly Grooms will address the graduate candidates as guest speaker for the ceremony.  Grooms, a 27 year instructor to BRTC, and holds a Master Degree in Speech Communication and Theatre Arts.  His dedication, hard work, and talents have earned him the BRTC’s Excellence in Leadership Award as well as the Governor’s Art Award from Governor Mike Huckabee on behalf of his work with The Studio for The Arts.  Grooms has served Pocahontas as Artistic Director with the Imperial Dinner Theatre, and C. O. O. for Downtown Playhouse, Inc.

Grooms uses his talent to give to and broaden his community.  Most of his adult life he has given of himself and his talents in the form of community service.

Guests of the graduates and members of the community are invited to attend commencement.
