BRTC PTK Hosts 7th Annual Day of Caring for Students

Black River Technical College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter held a “Day of Caring” on both the Pocahontas and Paragould campuses this week.

The Day of Caring is a day when PTK, in conjunction with BRTC’s Student Government Association (SGA) gives BRTC students who are also parents with presents for their children. College can cause financial hardship, especially for parents, and this event is PTK’s effort to help ease some of the financial burden of Christmas for these students during the Holiday season.

“We are so happy that we can provide this service for our students, which goes above and beyond academics. We are especially grateful to both the SGA and PTK for their ongoing support,” said PTK Advisor Dr. Dianna Fraley

Between the two campuses, 90 students participated in the giveaway and 171 toys were distributed. Two prize drawings were held for those who participated. Arts major Shelah Contos was the winner of an Onn tablet at the Paragould location and practical nursing student Winter Erazo was the winner of an Onn tablet at the Pocahontas location.
