BRTC Holds RN Recruitment Day

POCAHONTAS, AR April 12— Black River Technical College hosted a Registered Nursing recruitment day for students who will be graduating in May.

BRTC’s RN class had the opportunity to speak with prospective employers from several Northeast Arkansas healthcare facilities about open positions.

First Choice Healthcare, Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab, The Cottages at Belle Meade, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Legacy Hospice, Encompass Health, St. Bernard’s Medical Center, St. Bernard’s Five Rivers Medical Center, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, NEA Baptist Hospital, Wellpath, Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, and Kindred at Home attended the event to promote positions available in their facilities.

BRTC also invited several universities with BSN programs to attend and recruit students who plan to continue their education after graduating from BRTC. UAMS College of Nursing, Arkansas State University, Chamberlain University, Ouachita Baptist University, Southeast Missouri State University, Central Methodist University, and Henderson State University visited the campus to meet with students about their programs.

Amanda Junkersfield, BRTC Nursing Clinical Site Coordinator, explained that the college hosts hiring/recruiting events each year to give students and employers and college recruits the opportunity to meet face-to-face. She added, “These events are even more important now with the nursing shortage across the state.  The turnout was fantastic with around twenty facilities present.”
