BRTC Holds Kids’ College on the Paragould Campus

From June 5 -8, children ages 6-17 attended the annual Kids’ College on the Paragould campus, hosted by BRTC Paragould’s Corporate and Community Education.  Kids College provides students with fun-filled learning experiences in an environment which expands their knowledge and creative skills.  This year’s focus was on helping kids keep their minds and bodies active.

Students had the opportunity to experience a variety of learning opportunities.  They built bluebird birdhouse and bluebird feeders with Elizabeth Kimble from Crowley\’s Ridge Park.  Thanks to the Paragould Fire Department, students were able to use fire hoses to spray water and climb on the fire trucks.  The kids worked learned CIS skills such as identifying fingerprints, shoe prints, and other substances with Trish Copeland with Rebus WhoDunIt Mystery.  Lenia Rowe with Southern Bank came in and presented an M&M\’s and Millionaires program.  Students learned about agriculture and made a cardstock greenhouse with pop corn and soy beans with BRTC’s science instructor Angela Loveless.  They had the chance to climb in an air evacuation helicopter thanks to Air Evac in Paragould.  Students even had the chance to make their own slime during 10-minute science experiments.

Several individuals brought games for the kids.  Gary Money with The Ridge made and brought life-sized games such as Human Foosball, Tricky Triangle, Octa Ball, Relay Tic-Tac-Toe, and 4-Square.  BRTC’s IT director Mike Greene brought his life-sized Operation Game.
