BRTC Holds Education and Career Opportunities Day

On Friday, April 7, more than 275 NEA high school students attended Education and Career Opportunities (ECO) Day on BRTC’s Pocahontas campus. Students had the opportunity to get an in-depth look at degrees and programs offered at BRTC.

“Lots of people know we’re here,” said BRTC recruiter Angie French, “but many don’t really know how we can help them reach their career and educational goals.” While campus tours are helpful, they do not allow students to interact in programs or see life as a student. “We hear people say all the time that they didn’t realize how modern and advanced our learning environments, facilities, and equipment are and that we offer as much as we do.”

Students were able to choose 2 academic interests and attend sessions on that program. They could visit with program faculty, learn more about the degree and its career opportunities, and participate in an interactive demonstrations. Students were also able to explore the campus and see what types of support and opportunities the college has for them.

“This was a tremendous team effort,” French said. “Faculty and staff from across all departments and both Paragould and Pocahontas campuses pitched in to make the day lots of fun and informational for students.”

Faculty and staff were delighted with the turnout. “You should have seen the excitement on campus,” said Dr. Roger Johnson. “Students, faculty, and staff were all having a great time. It was a tremendous event.”
