BRTC College Council and President’s Cabinet Approves College’s 2021-2026 Strategic Plan

POCAHONTAS, AR. Oct. 9. –  College Council, BRTC’s primary budgeting and strategic planning committee, met virtually on Wednesday, September 23.  One of the actions that occurred was the proposal, review, and acceptance of BRTC’s 2021-2026 strategic plan.

Executive Director of Assessment and Accreditation Sissy Gray presented the plan to the committee, inviting comments, questions, and suggestions. After review, the chairman of the Faculty Forum and the chairman of the Student Forum gave the full support of their committees to the plan by moving and seconding to approve the plan.  In addition, the President’s Cabinet, composed of the president and vice presidents, also unanimously approved the plan.  The next step will be for the plan to be approved by the BRTC Board of Trustees at their annual meeting in November.

The community and BRTC students had the opportunity to provide input and guidance for the plan in August.  Those suggestions were incorporated into the plan which was sent to all faculty and staff for further feedback in early September.  The plan approved on Wednesday was the result of the comments and feedback.

While any BRTC faculty or staff member may attend College Council meetings, voting members are employees with at least one direct report as well as the chairpersons of the Faculty Forum and Staff Forum.   These three committees compose the backbone of BRTC shared governance.

The proposed strategic plan is available on the BRTC website at http://blackrivertech.org/about/strategicplanning.
