BRTC Celebrates Constitution Day

BRTC’s Constitution Day Display

POCAHONTAS, AR. Oct. 2. –  On Thursday, September 17, 2020, BRTC’s Library Director, Mark Warnick, set up a Constitution Day display in the administration building on the Pocahontas campus. The display included a copy of the U.S. Constitution and additional educational information about the constitution.

On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed and adopted the Constitution at Philadelphia\’s Independence Hall. Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men, recognizing all who are born in the U.S. or by naturalization, have become citizens.

Dr. Dianna Fraley, BRTC history instructor states, “The Constitution was created 233 years ago. It is a simple but elegant document that has endured for over two centuries because of its ability to adapt and change with the needs of the people.  It is the archetype for fledgling democracies all over the world and the standard bearer of liberty and equality.”
