BRTC Administrative Assistant to the President Janna Guthrey Retires After 20 Years of Service

Black River Technical College (BRTC) recently hosted a retirement reception to honor Administrative Assistant to the President Janna Guthrey for 20 years of service.

Guthrey began her career at BRTC in 2003 as a Secretary I for the general and technical education department. In 2009, her title was changed to Administrative Specialist I. In 2010 she was named Administrative Specialist for the Vice President of Technical Education. In 2011, she was promoted to Administrative Specialist III for the Vice President of Technical Education. In 2017, she was named Administrative Specialist III for Academics. Finally, in 2020, she was promoted to Administrative Assistant to the President.

During the reception, Guthrey was presented with a BRTC bench and a photo album full of memories from her 20 years at BRTC.

BRTC President Dr. Martin Eggensperger said, “Behind every successful endeavor is an indispensable person.  Throughout her career, Janna’s service to BRTC exemplified dedication, professionalism, and unwavering support. We are grateful for her commitment to our college and look forward to hearing the tales of her travels!”

Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Smith, Vice President of Institutional Advancement Dr. Karen Liebhaber, former BRTC President Richard Gaines, and former BRTC employee Angie Caldwell also spoke about Guthrey at the reception.

“Janna has always made all of us who work at BRTC feel like family. She will be missed,” said Smith.
