Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Communications Specialist for the Office of Institutional Advancement (IA). This is a full-time, non-classified, 12-month position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Specialist reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of a wide variety of communication and publicity initiatives for BRTC and the BRTC Foundation. Duties include coordinating all media inquiries for BRTC and the BRTC Foundation; assisting the Marketing Specialist in maintaining and enforcing college and Foundation branding; creating and disseminating all written publicity and press releases in print and digital mediums for BRTC, its departments and employees, and the BRTC Foundation; assisting IA staff including marketing and development with written communication and documents; managing BRTC and the BRTC Foundation website content and all BRTC and BRTC Foundation social media accounts; co-coordinating the organization, storage, maintenance, and access of IA’s digital images; editing photography as necessary; and assisting other IA members with IA activities such as marketing and development, as necessary.

SKILLS
Excellent written and oral communication, photography, and technology skills are required. Must be customer service-oriented, well-organized, and detail-oriented. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and meet strict deadlines. Must be able to function well in a team environment, be self-motivated, and possess critical thinking skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
The formal educational equivalent of a baccalaureate degree in English, communications, journalism, or similar field.
